Merrimack County Savings Bank (The Merrimack) announces a $10,000 pledge to Habitat for Humanity Greater Nashua Manchester and its commitment to drive housing stability in our community. This funding, made possible through the New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority (CDFA), will support the Home Repair Program which provides critical repairs for low-income homeowners, including seniors, veterans, and individuals with disabilities.
“By supporting Habitat for Humanity, we’re directly helping our vulnerable populations live safely and comfortably in their homes,” said Linda Lorden, President of The Merrimack. “Not only are we helping our neighbors in need, but we’re also helping build stronger, more vibrant communities.”
The Home Repair Program focuses on identifying and resolving health, life, and safety code issues. Working with families, Habitat for Humanity creates practical solutions that help homeowners reclaim their home with pride and dignity.
“This approach allows families to avoid the significant financial burden, logistical challenges, and emotional toll of having to move,” said Christa Tsechrintzis, Executive Director at Habitat for Humanity Greater Nashua Manchester. “The continued success of this campaign wouldn’t be possible without support from The Merrimack and other local businesses.”

CDFA tax credits allow businesses to fund qualifying economic or community development projects in exchange for a tax credit that can be applied against state business tax payments. The tax credits are administered by the New Hampshire CDFA. Any business with operations in New Hampshire that contributes to a CDFA tax credit project receives a New Hampshire state tax credit worth 75 percent of their contribution. The credit can be used over a period of five years to reduce the business’ state tax liability (business profits, business enterprise, or insurance premium taxes). The tax credit program allows New Hampshire businesses to use their state tax dollars to support local projects that they care about. CDFA reviews many project applications each year, and awards tax credits to those they determine are feasible and will make the biggest impact on economic development in the state.
