Merrimack County Savings Bank (The Merrimack) is proud to partner with Concord Coalition to End Homelessness to help welcome home individuals transitioning out of homelessness. Once the temporary home of the Coalition’s Resource Center, the building on South State Street was converted into eight apartment units – all of which were “adopted” by local organizations to get ready for future tenants.
“Turning an empty apartment into a home was a rewarding experience for our entire team,” said Linda Lorden, President of The Merrimack. “Our employees rose to the occasion – from donating and buying everyday necessities to volunteering their time to make it all possible.”
As part of the Coalition’s Adopt-A-Home Program, The Merrimack was responsible for furnishing a one-bedroom apartment with all the essentials needed to create a welcoming home and a fresh start. This marks the bank’s second time supporting the program, having also participated in the Adopt-A-Home Program for the Coalition’s first development project of the Green Street Residences back in 2020.
“Housing is the foundation on which everything is built: health, hope and opportunity,” said Karen Jantzen, Executive Director at the Concord Coalition to End Homelessness. “The South State Street Project reflects what can happen when we all come together with a shared belief that everyone deserves a home.”
The Concord Coalition to End Homelessness (CCEH) was formed in 2008 with one mission in mind, to end homelessness in the Greater Concord community. Since then, CCEH has launched a resource center to help meet immediate needs and offers multiple programs for safe, affordable, and stable housing. The Merrimack is proud to be a Platinum Level sponsor of CCEH and the organization’s annual fundraising events, SouperFest and Blues, Brews and BBQ. For more information, visit concordhomeless.org.
